The crossbow serving thread BCY Crossbow Serving is a braided Spectra thread intended to cover the string of a crossbow in the areas subject to friction, such as the central part that rests on the rail and the ends next to the limbs.

Manufacturer data:

  • Material: braided Spectra
  • Diameter: 0.030 inches
  • Breaking strength: 175 lb
  • Approximate yield: 2800 feet per pound
  • Spools of 1 lb or 45 yards

It is applied with a serving jig, keeping constant tension so that the wraps sit tight against each other and do not slip. When the centre serving shows wear, redoing it prevents the friction from reaching the fibres of the string.
