Guide TU435S thermal riflescope from the APEX VISION range: 15 mK 400×300 sensor, 35 mm F0.9 objective lens, Full HD AMOLED display and 738 g. It is the entry-level scope in the TU 3.0 series, with detection up to 1800 m and up to 8 hours of battery life.

The Guide TU435S thermal riflescope is the entry-level model in the TU 3.0 series of the new APEX VISION range: it pairs a 400×300 pixel sensor with 15 mK NETD with a 35 mm F0.9 objective lens, in a 374 mm, 738 g body. It is intended for night hunting and for anyone who wants a thermal imaging riflescope with a 30 mm tube, smooth imaging and simple controls.

Features

  • 400×300 sensor at 12 μm with 15 mK NETD: uncooled VOx detector (8 to 14 μm) on the ApexVision S1 architecture, with the Hyper-Light 2.0 algorithm. A sensitivity of 15 mK helps to separate the animal from the background on damp or low-contrast nights.
  • 35 mm F0.9 objective lens: 4.4x to 17.6x magnification and a 7.4° × 4.4° field of view (13 × 8 m at 100 m). The manufacturer states a detection range of 1800 m.
  • 0.49-inch Full HD AMOLED display (1920×1080): eyepiece with 48 mm eye relief and −5 to +5 dioptre adjustment, plus seven colour palettes (White Hot, Black Hot, Red Hot, Green Hot, Iron Red, Blue Hot and Sepia).
  • Shutterless 3.0 architecture: the image does not freeze and there is no calibration click during observation. The shutter module is kept only for start-up and for sharp changes in temperature.
  • Shot-linked recording: photo and video with sound on 128 GB of internal memory. The recoil-activated function saves a 15-second video and 5 photos of every shot.
  • Built-in battery plus external battery: an internal 18500 and a replaceable, hot-swappable 18650, for up to 8 hours of operation.
  • Rugged construction: IP68 waterproof, impact resistance up to 6000 J and operation from −20 °C to 50 °C.
  • App connectivity: dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5 GHz) and Bluetooth for the TargetIR app, with OTA firmware updates and ballistic calculation.

Why choose this model?

The TU435S has the same 35 mm lens, the same body and almost the same weight as the TU635S; the difference is the sensor, 400×300 instead of 640×512. For those who hunt at short and medium distances and want a complete thermal riflescope (recording, app, IP68, 6000 J) without moving up to a higher-resolution sensor, it is the starting point of the series.

The minimum magnification of 4.4x gives a close view of the target straight away. Anyone who needs more detail at long range or a larger display should look at the TU635S, the TU650S or the rangefinder version, the TU435LS.

How to choose

In the TU 3.0 series without a rangefinder there are three choices. The TU435S (400×300, 35 mm) is the simplest. The TU635S keeps the lens and the body but has a 640×512 sensor and a wider field, which gives more detail when zooming in. The TU650S moves to the 50 mm objective, a 2560×2560 display and 14 hours of battery life, at the cost of more weight (921 g). If measuring the distance to the target matters, the TU435LS version has a laser rangefinder up to 1200 m.

Frequently asked questions

What batteries does the Guide TU435S use?
It has a built-in 18500 battery and takes an external 18650, which can be replaced without switching the scope off. Two 18650 batteries and a charger come in the box.

Does the TU435S have a rangefinder?
No. The model with the same lens and a laser rangefinder up to 1200 m is the TU435LS.

What mount does the TU435S need?
The scope has a 30 mm tube and comes with a quick-release mount. Check that the mount fits the rail on your rifle.

At what distance does the TU435S detect an animal?
The manufacturer states a detection range of 1800 m. Detection means seeing that there is a heat source; recognising and identifying the animal requires much shorter distances.

Does the scope record shots?
Yes. With recoil-activated recording it saves a 15-second video and 5 photos of every shot, on 128 GB of internal memory.
