Guide TN650LS thermal binoculars from the APEX VISION range: 12 μm 640×512 sensor with 15 mK NETD, 50 mm F1.0 lens, 14×9 m field at 100 m, laser rangefinder up to 1500 m and Full HD AMOLED display.

The Guide TN650LS thermal binoculars are the high-resolution model of the TN 2.0 Series in the APEX VISION range: 640×512 detector at 12 μm with 15 mK NETD, 50 mm F1.0 lens and laser rangefinder up to 1500 m. The image reaches both eyes through a Full HD AMOLED display, to search for and identify animals at night with more detail and a wider field of view than the TN450LS.

Features

  • 640×512 pixels at 12 μm and 15 mK NETD: more pixels on the same target, which helps to recognise the silhouette and details of the animal. The ApexVision S1 architecture combines the ApexCore S1 detector, the Nexus 1.0 platform and the Hyper-Light 2.0 algorithm.
  • 8.2°×4.9° field of view: covers 14×9 m at 100 m, good for scanning a clearing or a line of cover without moving the binoculars much.
  • 3.9x to 31.2x magnification: starts wide for searching and zooms in up to 31.2x for detailed observation.
  • Built-in 1500 m (1630 yards) laser rangefinder, and a stated detection range of 2600 m (2800 yards).
  • 0.49-inch AMOLED display at 1920×1080 with seven palettes: White Hot, Black Hot, Red Hot, Green Hot, Iron Red, Blue Hot and Sepia.
  • Ergonomic binoculars: interpupillary distance from 58 to 72 mm, −6 to +6 dioptre, 20 mm eye relief and a one-handed focus wheel.
  • Full-function USB-C: charges, accepts external power and transfers data via USB 2.0; records photo and video with sound on 64 GB and connects via 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi to the TargetIR app.
  • Built-in battery plus external 18650: around 7 hours of use, IP67 protection and operation from −20 °C to 50 °C.

Why choose this model?

The TN650LS trades an hour of battery life (7 h against 8 h for the TN450LS) for much more image: 640×512 instead of 400×300 and a field of view almost 60% wider at 100 m. It is the choice for those who hunt at night in dense cover or open country and need to identify the animal clearly before deciding. Unlike the TN650MS, it has no daylight camera: it is thermal only, lighter (720 g against 1110 g) and with longer battery life.

It is an observation device and is not mounted on a rifle.

How to choose

For thermal observation, detector resolution counts most for identification at distance, and the field of view decides how quickly you can search. The TN650LS wins on both; the TN450LS magnifies more from the outset and lasts longer per charge. If a visible image by day and at dusk also matters, the TN650MS adds a 4K low-light CMOS camera to the same 640×512 detector.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Guide TN650LS and the TN450LS?
The TN650LS has a 640×512 detector and a 14×9 m field at 100 m; the TN450LS has 400×300 and 9×5 m. The TN450LS starts at a higher magnification (6.2x) and lasts 8 hours, against 7 hours for the TN650LS.

Can I connect the TN650LS to a power bank?
Yes: the USB-C port on the TN650LS accepts charging and external power, as well as transferring files via USB 2.0.

How far does the rangefinder work?
Up to 1500 m (1630 yards), according to the manufacturer. The real range depends on the target and the weather.

How many batteries does it come with?
It comes with two 18650 batteries and a charger. The device uses the built-in battery and one external 18650 at a time, so the second is kept in reserve.

Can the TN650LS binoculars be mounted on a rifle?
No. They are thermal observation binoculars; for aiming there are thermal riflescopes and clip-ons.

Are thermal binoculars a weapon accessory?
No. Thermal binoculars are an observation device, not a weapon or a weapon accessory.
