The BCY 400 nylon 0.17" serving thread is serving material, that is, the thread that is wound over the string to protect it where there is most friction: the centre of the string, the end loops and the nock area.

It is a nylon of 0.17" diameter, a thick gauge that closes quickly and gives a full wrap, which makes it common on strings for beginner bows and traditional bows, where the fine serving used in competition is not needed.

BCY is a manufacturer of bow string materials and the 400 nylon range is the brand's classic reference for this type of work. Supplied on a spool.
