THERMTEC THERMAL RIFLESCOPE ARES 335 2.0
ThermTec ARES 335 2.0 thermal riflescope with 384×288 sensor (NETD ≤ 18 mK), 35 mm F1.0 lens, 3.2x magnification and detection up to 1800 m. First-shot zeroing with 5 profiles, recoil-activated video, Wi-Fi, IP67, 6000 J recoil rating and up to 18 hours with built-in plus replaceable battery.
The ThermTec ARES 335 2.0 thermal riflescope is the most compact model in the ARES 2.0 series: a 384×288 pixel sensor (12 µm, NETD ≤ 18 mK, 50 Hz), a 35 mm F1.0 objective lens with 3.2x magnification and detection up to 1800 m. It combines first-shot zeroing, recoil-activated video and dual power, with a built-in and a replaceable battery reaching 18 hours. This version has no laser rangefinder: it measures distance by AI.
Features
- 384×288 sensor with NETD ≤ 18 mK: a 12 µm VOx detector that separates the animal from the background well; image calibration is manual or automatic, with a self-learning algorithm.
- 35 mm F1.0 objective lens: 3.2x optical magnification and 1x to 4x continuous digital zoom (up to 12.8x), 7.5° × 5.6° field of view (13.2 × 9.9 m at 100 m) and detection up to 1800 m for a 1.8 m person and about 700 m for a 0.7 m wild boar, according to the manufacturer.
- Quick zeroing: first-shot auto zeroing or manual zeroing, with freeze and zoom during the process. The 5 profiles store coordinates, distance and rifle, so you can switch rifles without re-zeroing.
- Reticles and image: 7 reticles in 5 colours (black, white, red, green and blue), 6 colour palettes, picture-in-picture (PIP) and a 0.39-inch 1024×768 AMOLED display.
- Automatic detection and AI ranging: the scope detects objects and estimates distance by AI; with the app connected over Wi-Fi, it sends a notification when a target enters the field of view.
- Recoil-activated video (RAV): records before, during and after the shot; it also takes photos and records video with sound to 64 GB of internal memory. The ThermTec Outdoor app gives live view and file sharing.
- Dual power: a built-in 18650 battery plus a slot for a replaceable 18650 or 18500 (both caps are in the box), up to 18 hours in total, with reverse-polarity protection.
- On the rifle: mounts in standard 30 mm rings (included), withstands recoil up to 6000 J, is IP67 rated and works from −20 °C to +50 °C. Rotary-knob control and start-up in about 3 seconds.
Why choose this model?
The ARES 335 2.0 is the entry point to the ARES 2.0 series: the same 18 mK sensor, the same recoil-activated video and the same 18-hour battery life as the larger models, in the most compact body of the series (814 g, 391.8 mm). The 35 mm lens suits open ground and medium distances, for night hunting of wild boar or fox.
If you need a wider field of view to search and more magnification to identify, there is the ARES 360 2.0 with a 20/60 mm dual lens; for a laser rangefinder and ballistic correction there are the LRF versions.

How to choose
Across the ARES 2.0 series the body, the 1024×768 display, zeroing, recording and 18-hour battery life are shared; the sensor and lens are what change. The ARES 335 2.0 (384×288, 35 mm, 3.2x, 814 g) is the most compact and covers medium distances well. The ARES 360 2.0 (384×288, 20/60 mm, 1.8x/5.5x, 1072 g) switches between a wide field to search and a narrow field to identify. The 6xx models use a 640×512 sensor for more detail, and the LRF versions add a laser rangefinder and trajectory.
Frequently asked questions
Does the ThermTec ARES 335 2.0 have a rangefinder?
It has no laser rangefinder. It estimates distance by AI from the detected object. The version with a laser rangefinder is the ARES 335 LRF 2.0.
What batteries does it use?
It has a built-in 18650 battery and takes a replaceable 18650 or 18500. Together they give up to 18 hours. The box includes two lithium batteries, a charger and caps for both sizes.
What mounting rings do I need?
Standard 30 mm rings. Two 30 mm rings come in the box; check that they suit the rail on your rifle.
How far can it detect a wild boar?
The manufacturer's chart gives about 700 m for a 0.7 m wild boar and 1800 m for a 1.8 m person. Identifying the animal safely requires a much shorter distance.
Does it record shots?
Yes. With recoil-activated video (RAV) it records before, during and after the shot, with sound, to 64 GB of internal memory.
